Enbridge Gas New Brunswick’s 2014 Rates Approved
Yesterday, the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board issued an Order approving the natural gas distribution rate schedule recently filed by Enbridge Gas New Brunswick as part of its 2014 Rate Application.
Residential and small commercial customers which account for 82% of natural gas customers in New Brunswick will receive a 14% reduction in distribution rates as compared to 2013.
Commercial and industrial customers will see a 2.5% increase in rates as compared to 2013 and will continue to save as much as 50% - 70% over other fuel choices.
“The new rates set a path for a sustainable and healthy public utility. When a public gas utility is able to recover its full revenue requirement (cost of operations), it is able to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas and invest in growing the system and the number of customers. This provides the opportunity to reduce costs for all customers,” says Gilles Volpe, General Manager of Enbridge Gas New Brunswick.
The new natural gas distribution rates will take effect May 1, 2014.
Enbridge Gas New Brunswick remains committed to providing clean and economical natural gas in a safe and reliable manner to over 12,000 customers in New Brunswick.
